Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Recreation Deputy Stresses Boat Registration

(Juneau) Representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office want to inform boaters of the number one violation they see on area waterways. Recreational Deputy Jason Roy says improper or missing registration is the most common infraction. He says either people just do not register their boat at all, or they simply neglect to put the numbers on their boat. Either way Deputy Roy says you need to register your watercraft and properly display registration stickers on your boat.

Conservation Warden Ryan Mannes says that even new boat owners do not have an excuse for lacking proper registration. Mannes says when new boaters or new boat owners go online to register their craft, they will be prompted on the DNR website to print a temporary registration while they wait for their stickers to come in the mail. He says boaters must carry that temporary registration with them until their boat is properly stickered

Residents must reregister their boats every three years if they wish to continue to operate them on any of the state’s waterways.
