Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Participating In Driver Sober Campaign

(Juneau) With the holiday season upon us, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents of the dangers of driving under the influence. The department has joined other law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign that runs through January 1st. Sergeant CJ Micale says the goal is to make roadways safer for everyone by discouraging people from making dangerous and irresponsible decisions. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says there are a number of different ways citizens can help. He suggests reporting impaired drivers to law enforcement and provide as much detail as possible. Other tips include identifying a designated driver at parties, downloading the free “Driver Sober” app from the WisDOT website. The app has a ‘find a ride’ feature to help located mass transit and taxi services. Schmidt says some taverns and restaurants have programs to provide patrons a safe ride home. He also encourages everyone to buckle up and to watch speed limits and eliminate distractions. Micale adds to help ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday season, the cooperation of all Dodge County motorists is needed.
