Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Offers Advice On Securing Trailers

(Dodge County) With plenty of warm weather still ahead there will be vehicles on the road pulling boats, campers, and other items hauled on trailers. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is reminding motorists of the importance of making sure trailers are in good condition and road ready. Before starting your trip, the sheriff’s office advises you to check your tires, axels, and lights to ensure everything works properly. Just as importantly, sheriff’s officials say your cargo should be secured on the trailer regardless of how long you are driving. They say any unsecured items such as coolers, chairs, grills, and fishing equipment can become a hazard to other motorists. Failure to properly secure a trailer can result in a $200 citation and two demerit points added to your license.
