(Dodge County) The Dodge County Sheriff is warning residents of an iCloud scam that is making the rounds. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says he recently received 35 calls from various phone numbers from a 408 California area code in a 24-hour period. He says someone he knows got 67 similar calls. Every call was the same and started with a message saying that Schmidt’s iCloud account had been compromised. When he told the caller he did not have an iCloud account he was told someone had opened a fraudulent account using his android information. Schmidt says they wanted him to download an app called TeamViewer so they could access his device remotely to steal his information. He says the sheriff’s office is not asking the public to report these callas, but recommends hanging up if you get a similar call because it is a scam.
