Dodge County Sheriff Praises Detectives For Work On Home Invasion Case

(Juneau) The Dodge County sheriff shared some insights into the recent arrests made in a year hold home invasion case. The incident occurred last January in the town of Hustisford. Throughout the past year, investigators worked diligently to identify those involved and used nearly every tool at their disposal to solve the case.

Sheriff Dale Schmidt says two of his detectives traveled to southern Illinois and Missouri to conduct interviews and work with local police agencies in attempts to locate the suspects. As a result of their efforts 60 year-old Robert Ledbetter of Palmyra, Missouri and 45 year-old Anthony Smith of Monroe City, Missouri, were allegedly identified for their involvement and were ordered back to Wisconsin.

Schmidt praised the work of his investigators, noting that his agency had little to work with.

“We didn’t have any photographs of any of the license plates,” says Schmidt. “We had vague images that we could look at from some security cameras, and so we’re trying to piece this thing together, and it took a long time.”

Ledbetter was in Dodge County court Tuesday and entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment hearing. A three-day jury trial was also scheduled to begin on May 28th. According to court records, there is still an arrest warrant issued for Smith.
