Dodge County Sheriff Offering Citizen’s Academy

6/24/17 – Dodge County residents have a chance to get an inside look into local law enforcement.  The sheriff’s office is holding its third annual Citizen’s Academy this fall.  Sheriff Dale Schmidt says a number of topics are covered in the 16-week course including: OWI enforcement, crash investigation, criminal investigation, and firearm’s training.  Schmidt says there is also a class where a panel comprised of law enforcement members and their spouses discuss how the profession affects home life.  Classes run from 6pm to 9pm each Wednesday from September 13 through December 13.  Applications are on the sheriff’s office website and the deadline is July 12.  People must be 18 years or older and pass a background check.
