Dodge County Sheriff Among Those On New Year’s Eve Patrol

(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is reminding everyone to party safely during New Year’s Eve celebrations Saturday night. Sheriff Dale Schmidt has one simple message for those planning to drink.

“If you’re going to drink alcohol or you’re going to use an impairing intoxicant, such as a drug or something else, illegal or otherwise, please don’t get behind the wheel of a vehicle,” says Schmidt.

Schmidt says that he and his staff will be on duty and making arrests tonight, regardless of the holiday. He says that no one should lose their life during celebrations like this.

“Nobody wants to lose a loved one on Christmas, on a holiday, or any other time,” Schmidt says. “And we need to take that seriously and continue to do so.”

He says that while it is a busy and exciting time of year, people still need to drink responsibly, drive responsibly, and make sure everyone is safe.
