Dodge County Sex Offender To Reside In The Fond Du Lac Area

(Fond du Lac) A sex offender from Dodge County will be residing in the Fond du Lac area. Jonathan Miller, who has two previous juvenile adjudications for First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child when he was 14 and 16-years-old, is currently reporting a homeless status. Miller had been living out of state prior to his return to Wisconsin. The 34-year-old has been staying in a vehicle on private property in both the Town and City of Fond du Lac. He is being monitored by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Division of Community Corrections.

In January, a Dodge County judge approved a petition for discharge from a previous Chapter 980 Sexually Violent Person Commitment. Meaning, Fond du Lac County has no legal authority to prevent Miller from residing within the county. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says Miller is not on any active community or extended supervision but is required to comply with the sex offender registry, including lifetime GPS monitoring.

He says due to Miller’s juvenile adjudication, the law prevents his information from being identified on the sex offender registry website. Waldschmidt adds that the notification is not intended to increase fear, rather, it is his belief that an informed public is a safer public.
