Dodge County Recreation Deputy Offers Timely Snowmobile Reminders

(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging safe practices for snowmobile riders. Recreation Deputy Jason Roy says important reminders include registration and trail passes. Any snowmobile that is kept within Wisconsin for more than 15 days must be registered. Roy says a trail pass can cost $30 annually or if a rider belongs to a local club the pass is offered at a discounted price of $10. Roy says all that money goes back into funding the over 500 miles of trails in the Dodge County trail system.  During a recent appearance on WBEV’s Community Comment, Roy said the legal blood-alcohol-limit for operating a snowmobile is the same for vehicles at point-zero-eight (.08). He says there is nothing wrong with drinking but says it is safer for everyone involved to keep alcohol away from the trails. Roy says while insurance is not state required for recreational vehicles, it is recommended because of the high prices of boats, ATV’s and snowmobiles. Those with further questions can call Roy at 920-386-4106.
