(Juneau) Dodge County officials are highlighting a new map that details who has access to broadband. The Federal Communications Commission recently unveiled the “pre-production draft” of the new national broadband map.
Officials say this map is the most detailed and current federal map of where broadband is and is not accessible throughout the country. They say that citizens in Dodge County are asked to visit the map, available online, and make sure it correctly reflects the access available at your home. If it does not, there is a brief window to challenge the map’s findings.
Madison Regional Economic Partnership President Jason Fields says if areas are incorrectly finalized as having access they do not, it will jeopardize their ability to access federal support for broad infrastructure. He says their team has spearheaded efforts to collect accurate data on under-served areas in both urban and rural community their region for the last year and now is another opportunity for Wisconsinites to contribute to a broadband solution.
The deadline to submit challenges is January 13th. Click HERE to visit the broadband map.
