Dodge County Officials Hear Update On EMS Shortage

(Juneau) The Dodge County Board’s Executive Committee heard an update this week on a study of the region’s emergency medical services. A steering committee made up of stakeholders representing emergency medical service agencies, local hospitals and townships are hoping the study reveal solutions to significant concerns about the sustainability of EMS services in Dodge County. In August, the county board hired Strategic Management and Consulting, LLC to conduct on-site interviews with providers as well as gather information and promote collaboration between the firm, EMS providers and constituents. Last month, a community forum was held that gave the public an opportunity to ask questions about the study. Emergency Management Director Amy Nehls says several in attendance wondered if the county would mandate any changes. She says Dodge County will not take action on any recommendations from the study and that their role has only been that of a conduit to help facility the analysis. Nehls says the final report will be presented to the county board during their meeting on January 21st.
