10/14/17 – The Dodge County Historical Society is holding an event this weekend that is intended to bring to life the earliest settlers in Beaver Dam. Haunted History is being held Sunday at the Beaver Dam City Cemetery, the oldest burial grounds in the community. Among the 19th Century historical figures featured this year: Robert Bogert, whose home was Beaver Dam’s first hospital; War of 1812 veteran Amos Graham; state legislator Charles Burchard; John Hensler, eye witness to the Beaver Dam fire of 1863 and finally Beaver Dam’s first true settler Hannah Goetschius Holt-Mackie. Haunted History was originally scheduled to be held Saturday night with a Sunday rain date. Kathy Barnett with the Historical Society’s board of directors says because of inclement weather, the event has officially been moved to Sunday evening from 6pm to 8pm. The cost is $5 per person. The Beaver Dam City Cemetery is located at the corner of North University and Burnett Street.
