Dodge County Highway Department To Chip Seal Several Highways

(Juneau) The Dodge County Highway Department will be chip sealing several highways beginning Tuesday.

On the west side of the county, Highway AW from Highway A to Jersey Road will be chip sealed. The highway department will be working on Highway AA from Highway 73 to Highway A Wednesday as well as Highway I from Highway 19 to T.

On the county’s eastside, Highway DJ from 60 to Juneau will be chip sealed on Thursday. Highway E from Highway M to Hustisford on Monday and Highway R from Hustisford to Highway 67 next Tuesday. Work is slated to be completed in about a month.

The highway department says this maintenance is necessary to protect the road surface from deterioration through oxidation. As a result of the sealcoating process, there will be loose gravel chips on the road surface. Crews will sweep the roads twice and apply traffic markings within one week, weather permitting.

To minimize and prevent damage to windshields, headlights, and paint on vehicles, highway department officials ask that motorists reduce speed and observe the signs that will be posted in the project area. They also asks drivers to use an alternate route during sealcoat application, if possible.
