(Beaver Dam) The Dodge County Fair Association will be using their share of a state grant to make improvements to their facilities. The governor’s office recently released roughly $27-million-dollars in grants to event venues and live event small businesses.
The Dodge County Fair Association received $200-thousand-dollars. The fair board’s Sharon Keil says those funds will go towards barn improvements. That includes repairs to leaking roof’s that will need to be resurfaced and repainted.
Other area organizations receiving funds include the Fond du Lac County Agricultural Society, which got $136-thousand-dollars; Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake received $73-thousand; and $200-thousand-dollars went to the Lodi Agricultural Fair.
The grants were created to address the revenue shortfalls experienced by event venues and small businesses that cater to live events during the pandemic. The program is funded by the federal American Rescue Plan Act and administered by Department of Administration.
