(Beaver Dam) After the 2020 Dodge County Fair was cancelled due to the pandemic, organizers say to expect the same top-notch entertainment visitors have enjoyed in years past. The fair is returning August 18th through the 22nd. President of the Dodge County Fairgrounds Association Doug Ninmann says there will be changes but the carnival itself will be the same and will feature the same famous fair food. Attendees will also enjoy the same youth exhibits and midway rides. Other than general social-distancing guidelines, no events or competitions will be omitted from the lineup at this year’s fair. Ninmann says that includes the evening entertainment lineup. The Badger State Tractor Pull will kick off the fair Wednesday night. The Nitty Gritty Dirtband will perform at 8pm Friday and Blue Oyster Cult and Starship featuring Mickey Thomas will headline a back-to-back concert series Saturday. The Demolition Derbies will conclude the grandstand entertainment Sunday at 1pm and 6pm. Ninmann says while the lineup is exciting, it should not take away from the exhibits as well as the time and effort the kids have put into preparing their animals to showcase to the public. Daily gate admission is $7 before noon and $10 after. Children aged nine and under are free. Season tickets can be purchased at a variety of local locations at a reduced rate – $27 in advance or $35 at the fairgrounds gate. Masks will not be mandatory, but organizers say face coverings are encouraged if attendees are more comfortable wearing them.
