Dodge County Fair Begins Today

(Beaver Dam) Wednesday is opening day for the Dodge County Fair. Over 50-thousand people are expected to turn out to the fairgrounds outside Beaver Dam over the next five days for the fairs 131st year.

Among the events today:

– WBEV’s the Local Dish will air and be streamed live on DailyDodge.com from 3pm to 6pm and will feature cooking tips and tricks during the Idea Exchange hosted by Brenda Murphy. Chef Chanse and Bill from Piggly Wiggly will also be on hand. Following the broadcast, visitors will be able to play the Price is Right game for a chance to win prizes.

– The Fairest of the Fair will be crowned on the WTKM stage at 5pm.

– The Badger State Tractor Pullers are slated for opening night tonight and will include various pro stock tractors and some of the top-running diesel trucks in the country.

– The fair will have three main stage music acts this year. Classic country act The Oak Ridge Boys perform Thursday. County music singer-songwriter Chris Janson is on tap for Friday. Classic rockers Grand Funk Railroad with special guests Foghat are on the main stage Saturday night.

Free family-friendly activities on tap throughout the fairgrounds starting today include pig, duck and goat races; the Kandu Magic Show; and the educational Wild World of Animals show. The admission price is $7 to get in before noon and $10 after that. Season tickets are $35 dollars. Kids age nine and under are free. On the carnival midway Wednesday, wristbands are $25.
