Dodge County Company Recognized By DOT For Construction Work

(Brownsville) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation this week announced Excellence in Construction Awards for six companies including one in Dodge County.

The Brownsville based company, Michels Road & Stone Incorporated, received the Large Contract award for their work on the Zoo Interchange North Leg. This project, located in Milwaukee County, expanded nearly two miles of highway from three to four lanes in each direction, as well as reconstructed the North Avenue interchange.

The project lasted three full construction seasons. Transportation officials credited Michels for their partnership with their agency, and for delivering the complex project on time, on budget, and with minimal public disruption.

State Transportation Secretary Craig Thompson says they are extremely proud of the work over the past five years to improve more than 7,400 miles of roadway and 1,780 bridges in Wisconsin. Thompson adds that they continue to make strategic transportation investments in every county across the state and these awards showcase those efforts.

The department views the Annual Excellence in Construction Awards as an opportunity for them to recognize quality work and embrace innovations that help us all save time and money.
