Dodge County Board Approves 2022 Budget

(Juneau) The Dodge County Board adopted the 2022 budget Tuesday. The mill rate of $4.78 per thousand-dollars of assessed value is down 34-cents from the number homeowners saw last December, while county property values are up 6.5-percent to $7.4-billion-dollars. The $168-million-dollar document includes a tax levy of $35.7-million, which is a decrease of roughly $260-thousand-dollars from 2021.

Efforts to remove $9-million-dollars in borrowing for road repairs was defeated. Meanwhile, an amendment to terminate services with ThriveED was approved. County Board Chairman Russ Kottke thanked supervisors for discussing any budget amendments they had with the finance department beforehand which helped smooth out calculating any potential budget impact. Last year, Kottke chastised the board for not discussing budget amendments during finance committee meetings. The final budget was adopted on a 23-to-4 vote.
