Dodge County Authorities Still Searching For Huber Walkaway

(Juneau) The Dodge County sheriff says they are still looking for a Huber inmate that walked away from the jail but they know where she went. Jessica Shafer failed to return from a medical appointment over the weekend and now has an active arrest warrant. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the 27-year-old never went to her medical appointment.

“She went to Milwaukee County,” says Schmidt. “And we know where she got dropped off…we know who did it. And that individual will also be held accountable because of things that he shared with us which were incorrect. We are still looking for this individual to turn herself in. That would be best for her.”

During Wednesday’s appearance on Community Comment, Schmidt explained how Huber works.

“That’s work release…when you are on work release you are court ordered to be able to leave the jail to go to medical appointments…to your work…your employment,” says Schmidt. “So, what happens is we allow this person out [and] we know they have a medical appointment [and they find their] own way there. When you’re done, you have to report back. Welp…she didn’t.”

Shafer was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray t-shirt, white shoes, with a black sweatshirt, and a purple jacket. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office 920-386-3726 or your local law enforcement agency.
