(Dodge County) Local law enforcement agencies around Dodge County yesterday (Monday) recognized past and present members in honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
The day is set aside each January 9th to recognize the sacrifices of those who wear the badge. The day was created by multiple organizations in 2015 to express their gratitude for officers in the United States.
One of the main organizations behind the holiday’s creation C.O.P.S., or Concerns or Police Survivors, say law enforcement officers need to be shown that the difficult career path they have chosen is recognized by the people who they protect and uphold the law for.
While the day has passed, local law enforcement agencies say support can be shown throughout the year by thanking an officer when you see one.
