Job Title: District ManagerSummary: Day to day management of a multi-unit small business and its staff.Primary Responsibilities: The district manager will be responsible for overseeing all of the bakery café operations, which includes but is not limited to:• Creating a store culture aligned with the Great Harvest Mission Statement that our customers love to visit and are proud to show off to their family, friends, and coworkers.• Ensuring top levels of service and hospitality.• The district manager is responsible for the success and growth of the business with the expectation to add and manage additional spokes.• Provide strong leadership and delegate responsibilities. Build a high-performance team by empowering others to ensure attainment of company goals.• Work with owners, Great Harvest and other influencers and stakeholders to develop and implement a strategic plan for growth and sustainability.STAFFING• Hire employees for retention and who are aligned with our culture and values.• Train all new employees using outlined Great Harvest systems and processes.• Manage employees including performance appraisals, corrective action, monthly meetings, daily oversight, ongoing coaching and, when necessary, termination.• Schedule staff utilizing Great Harvest recommended scheduling software | Cover shifts when needed.• Provide direction to employees regarding operation and procedural issues.• Develop and motivate staff by establishing performance expectations, providing ongoing feedback, cross-training and additional responsibilities, incentives and opportunities for personal development and job growth.• Ask for staff feedback and ideas, including them in decision making resulting in overall business success.• Hire, teach, coach, lead and develop a strong management team.SAFETY, CLEANLINESS & MAINTENANCE• Enforce ServSafe guidelines and sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas.• Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws and ordinances.• Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service.• Oversee maintenance and upkeep of the Bakery Café(s), including the dining areas, kitchen, storage areas and exterior grounds of the restaurant; all facilities and equipment.• Provide a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents; complete accident reports promptly. Ensure proper procedures are in place to protect employees, guests and company assets.• Maintain professional restaurant image, including cleanliness, proper attire and appearance standards.MARKETING• Develop and execute an annual plan for marketing, promoting, and advertising the Bakery Café(s).• Executing baking schedules and menus with staff input and according to the Great Harvest seasonal marketing recommendations.• Provide a strong presence in local community involvement by restaurant and personnel.FINANCIAL | BUSINESS• Identify opportunities to drive various revenue streams and growth.• Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility and labor costs.• Ensure that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures.• Estimate food and beverage needs to manage inventory levels and purchasing to optimize sales and COGS. Establish a strong line of suppliers and relationships.• Audit quality and consistency of all items on a daily basis.• Audit great operations by overseeing and enforcing the proper execution of systems, processes, and recipe adherence.• Prevent, diagnose, and fix operational issues during each shift.• Implement and manage franchise recommended technology solutions, systems, processes, procedures.Nature of Supervision Received: Reports directly to, and is supervised by, Director of Operations.Competencies: Demonstrates ability to be flexible and resilient. Ability to be a part of a team in a close environment. Customer focused 100% of the time. Must be skilled in handling stressful working conditions, an excellent multitasker, and able to deal with frequent interruptions calmly and decisively.Minimum Qualifications:Minimum education required: High school diploma.Minimum experience required: 3+ years of bakery or restaurant work, supervisor role preferred.Additional knowledge required: Leadership skills, basic business knowledge: understanding financial reports, marketing, proficient with computers.Certificates, licenses: Valid driver’s license. ServSafe Certification.Special skills needed: Organization. Problem solving. Excellent customer service. Good interpersonal, communication and listening skills. Must be an approachable leader with a positive, “can-do” attitude. Ability to select, coach, develop, motivate and retain strong management teams.Physical Demands: Will be spending a lot of time on your feet. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.Work Environment: Mostly inside at the bakery, exposure to temperature extremes while baking (hot ovens, very warm proofing environments), exposure to flour and flour dust.Special Requirements: Ability to travel for the job on occasion (training trip to the Franchise Office in Montana, company convention attendance, etc), reliable transportation, clean driving record, on-call or overtime work, flexible scheduling.
