Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Under the general direction of Shop Superintendent, performs skilled work in preventive maintenance and mechanical repair of gasoline, diesel and other power-driven equipment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspects, maintains, and repairs all county-owned equipment including, but not limited to, autos, trucks, tractors, graders sweepers, bulldozers, rollers, snow removal equipment and compressors, etc.
Knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, and materials used in mechanical trades and the maintenance/repair of light/heavy automotive, construction and maintenance equipment.
High school diploma or GED equivalent, basic computer skills, five (5) years of experience repairing heavy trucks, construction and maintenance equipment specifically diesel/gasoline engines electrical problems and hydraulic systems . Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Must possess a valid CDL with Class A, B, D, and N endorsement.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must be available for emergency call-in 24 hours a day/7 days a week as requested by supervisor.
Works inside and outside in various weather conditions, which may include extreme temperatures (both high and low).
