Didion Mills Appealing $1.8M Fine In Fatal Explosion

12/9/17 – Cambria-based Didion Mills will go to an Independent Occupational Safety Review Committee to appeal $1.8-million in federal fines assessed for an explosion which killed five people.  The incident last May also injured 14 others, including a 21-year-old worker who suffered a double-leg amputation. Investigators say an accumulation of grain dust likely caused the blast. OSHA ruled Didion failed to correct the leakage and accumulation of combustible grain dust and also failed to properly maintain equipment to control ignition sources.
