Detour Routes Will Be In Place For Upcoming WIS49 Chip Seal Operation

(Waupun) Motorists are being warned of a chip seal operation that will take place on Wisconsin Highway 49 from the Village of Brandon to the city of Waupun. Crews will be working on the stretch of highway between County Road TC and County Road MM from 5am on August 29 to 4pm the following the day. Highway 49 will be closed and detour routes will be established with local access to businesses and properties in the work zone being maintained. The southbound detour will take drivers east on County TC in Brandon to County M then south on County M to Highway 49 in Waupun. The northbound detour will start north on County M in Waupun to County TC then west on County TC to Highway 49 in Brandon. Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation say that chip seal maintenance may result in loose stones along the roadbed and encourage motorists to take extra caution, drive slowly and allow additional space between vehicles to prevent damage from loose stone chips. The chip seal project will continue the week of September 3 as crews apply a fog seal to Highway 49 which will again be detoured for 48 hours during application.
