Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment functions properly. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and ensuring patient comfort throughout procedures. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, managing medical coding for billing purposes, and updating medical records efficiently. Requirements Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control protocols, and aseptic technique. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to accurately assist during treatments. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while following all safety guidelines; familiarity with medical imaging equipment is a plus. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members—including dental receptionists—and provide compassionate care to pediatric patients when needed.
