Dementia Concerns Coalition Of Dodge County Donates To Project Lifesaver Program

(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office recently received a donation that will help bolster one of their important programs. The Dementia Concerns Coalition of Dodge County, or DCC, presented a check for $10,000 to the sheriff’s office Project Lifesaver Program.

Project LifeSaver works with local search and rescue units to monitor individuals with a tendency to wander, perhaps due to cognitive conditions such as autism, dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Down syndrome.

Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the money will help his office purchase additional receiver antennas used to locate those who have wandered off. He says they will also be able to buy hard cases so they can keep them deployed in squad cars to initiate a search must faster.

DCC fully funded the startup of Project Lifesaver in 2015. Schmidt says the organization provided a second donation in 2017 and with this final act of generosity, has provided a total of roughly $21-thousand-dollars. The sheriff adds that the Dodge County Project Lifesaver program owes its successes and existence to the DCC.
