Dean L. Huizenga

Dean L. Huizenga, 79, of Waupun, went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.

Dean was born December 27, 1938 in Randolph, WI the son of Adolph and Ella Kempenaar Huizenga.  Dean graduated from Randolph High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964. On December 27, 1962 he married Elaine Loomans in Alto.  Dean and Elaine lived in Randolph after he was discharged from the service and moved to Waupun in 2017. Dean was self-employed and owned and operated Huizenga Builders, Huizenga Farm Service, and Dean’s Digging Service.  Dean took pride in his work and enjoyed the people he served. After he retired he enjoyed working in his shop where he made beautiful wooden toys and other items. Dean was a long-time member of Second Randolph Christian Reformed Church where he served as elder.  He later became a member of Grace United Reformed Church in Waupun.

Dean is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine; four children: Brenda (Dan) Bergsma, Angela (Norm) Buwalda, Jeff (Lynnea) Huizenga, and Melissa (Jeff) Pausma; 14 grandchildren:

Lindsey Bergsma, Christopher (Christina) Bergsma, Deanna (Winner) Jacobson, Holly Bergsma, Mitchell Bergsma, Jacque (Derek) Granquist, Laurie (Chris) Parmelee, Katie (Jason) Grahn, Brittany (Doug) Hoekstra, Derek Huizenga, Matthew Huizenga, Clay (Brianna) Pausma, Jocelyn Pausma, and Alex Pausma; 14 great-grandchildren: Malachi, Araya, Josiah, Brayden, Kaleb, Levi, Ryan, Clara, Audrey, Dean, Liam, Emersyn, Case, and Bret; three sisters: Ruth Alkema, Carol (Sam) Kok, and Francis (Jerry) Anderson; six sisters-in-law: Janice Huizenga, Pearl Vande Zande, Evie (Ken) DeVries, Hildred Loomans, Alice Posthuma, and Sue Davenport; two brothers-in-law: Rev. Bud Ipema and Dr. Henry (Robin) Loomans; and nieces and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by two brothers:  Ben (Gert) Huizenga and Marty Huizenga; three sisters: Adeline Huizenga, Ann (Mel) Vander Galien, and Donna Ipema; brothers-in-law: Jack Alkema, Milton Vande Zande, and Cliff Posthuma; and sister-in-law, Helena (Barney) Vande Kolk.

The family would like to thank the staff at Randolph Health Services and Hillside Hospice for their tender, loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mid-America Reformed Seminary.

Funeral services for Dean Huizenga will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church 20 Bly St. Waupun with Rev. Todd Joling of Faith United Reformed Church in Beecher, IL officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Cemetery where American Legion Post 210 of Waupun will provide military honors. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
