(Madison) The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection is inviting Wisconsin dairy processors to apply for grants through October 13th. The grants are meant to foster innovation, improve profitability, and sustain the long-term viability of the state’s dairy processing facilities.
A total of $500-thousand dollars is available for this year’s grants as part of Governor Tony Evers biennial budget. To be eligible, applicants must operate a licensed dairy processing plant in Wisconsin that is engaged in pasteurizing, processing, or manufacturing milk or dairy products.
The funds can be used to address multiple areas of need including food safety, staff training, plant expansion or modification, and professional consulting services. The organization says dairy processors play an essential role in the state and that these grants allow them to continue innovating.
