(Juneau) The Dodge County Hazmat team will be coming to the Beaver Dam area to do some decontamination training next year. This past August, the Iron Ridge, Allenton, Theresa, Hustisford and Neosho Fire Departments gathered in Iron Ridge to participate in the training. Dodge County Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Matt Bartol (bar-tull) says that since he is a member of the Beaver Dam Fire Department, he figured he would bring the training to the area.
“So, we’re gonna get Beaver Dam, and then invite some of the surrounding fire departments too once we get the planning process for that.”
The training focused on mass decontamination, technical decontamination and familiarity with Dodge County’s Hazmat apparatus. Bartol says he wants to get the community involved.
“That might look like maybe the Citizen’s Police Academy [because] that’s gonna be [going] on about that time,” says Bartol. “Maybe they’ll come out and get some involvement or the fire department cadets.”
More details about the training will be released at a later date.
