Daughter of a Captured German Soldier

(Horicon) The Rock River Archaeological Society presents Eva Hall – Heim, Daughter of a Captured German Soldier.  The program will feature Eva Hall – Heim telling the story of her father George Hall, who was a German Prisoner of war held in Hustisford, Wisconsin.  She will present how it was for her family as they immigrated to Wisconsin after the war.  Eva will relate the difficulties being only 10 years old and the only one in the family who spoke English.  She will keep everyone on the edge of their seats as she shares the story of how her family almost missed their chance to come to the United States.

Attendees will learn about the more than 100 Prisoner of War camps in Wisconsin, and hear stories of the lasting friendships that were formed as the Prisoners worked on local farms and in local businesses.  The program aims to give those in attendance a glimpse at a fascinating slice of history from right here in Wisconsin.

The program is open to the public and will be held at the Horicon Marsh Education Center, N7725 Hwy 28, Horicon, WI on September 19th, at 6:30pm with refreshments to be served after.
