Damage Estimated At $286K In Watertown Barn Fire

(Watertown) Fire destroyed a barn in Watertown Tuesday morning. The Jefferson County Dispatch Center paged the Watertown Fire Department to N8305 High Road at 8:06am. A passerby saw black smoke and flames and alerted the property owners. Crews arrived to find the barn completely engulfed with the roof starting to collapse.

There were no people or animals inside at the time and there were no injuries reported. Damage is estimated at $200-thousand dollars for the structure and $76-thousand dollars for the contents. The cause of the blaze has not been determined and remains under investigation.

Mutual assistance was provided at the scene by Jefferson EMS and fire departments from Waterloo, Sullivan, Lake Mills, Clyman, Johnson Creek and Ixonia while Western Lakes, Reeseville and Lebanon provided coverage at the station during the incident. The Watertown Police Department was on scene to help with traffic control and firefighting efforts.
