(Columbus) The Wisconsin National Guard will be hosting three COVID-19 testing sites in the city of Columbus over the next three months. The Columbia County Public Health Department requested the Guard’s assistance in providing the free testing at Columbus Water and Light beginning next Tuesday, January 5. Appointments are not necessary but, in an effort to save time, people are encouraged to register online no sooner than 24 hours prior.
Health officials say due to unknown amount of interest, prepare for potential wait times. They also ask that all vehicles form a line and that people stay inside the vehicle at all times. No restroom facilities will be available onsite. All National Guard members assisting will be in uniform and full personal protective equipment. Individuals will be contacted with their results within three to seven business days.
Columbus Water and Light is located at 950 Maple Avenue and next Tuesday’s testing runs from 12pm to 6pm.
