County, Municipal Races In Spring Election Taking Shape

12/7/17 – There may be at least one contested race on the 33-member Dodge County Board. Incumbent Supervisor Ed Nelson of the Town of Westford is not seeking re-election to his District Four Beaver Dam-area seat and two candidates have filed Declaration of Candidacy papers. Evonne Boettge  and Dale Macheel, both of Westford, are circulating paperwork. In District Five Jeff Schmitt, who was unseated by incumbent Supervisor Janice Bobholz in 2014, has filed his Declaration of Candidacy. Bobholz has yet file. On the Beaver Dam Common Council, there could be a contested race in Ward 12 where incumbent Dan Doyle is being challenged by former Alderwoman Donna Maly, who lost her seat to Doyle two years ago. Even-numbered wards in Beaver Dam are up for election this spring and incumbents Mary Flaherty in Ward Two, Ken Anderson in Ward Six, Kara Nelson in Ward Ten and Mary Morgan in Ward 14 have all filed paperwork with the city clerk. Names will not appear on a ballot unless Declaration of Candidacy, a campaign registration statement and nomination papers with signatures are all filed. The deadline for filing all three forms is 5pm on January 2. Incumbent candidates who do not plan to seek re-election have until December 21 to file their Notification of Non-Candidacy.
