(Juneau) The Dodge County Board’s Executive Committee gave their approval to increase the compensation paid to supervisors for time spent in meetings. Currently, the per diem rate is $50 for committee members and $55 for the committee chairperson. Supervisor Jeff Berres says the pay should reflect the amount of time spent in meetings. He says some committee meetings can go as long as five or more hours and that $50 just does not cut it. Berres says a higher rate would help engage county board members or draw younger individuals to participate. Supervisor Dennis Schmidt made a motion to increase the pay by $10 who says the jump is not out of line. The motion was approved on a 6-1 vote with Supervisor David Frohling voting no, citing that the timing was not right. If approved by the county board next week, the per diem increase will go into effect in April.
