(Wisconsin) The cost of a Thanksgiving meal went down this year when compared to 2022. The Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s Marketbasket survey found that a dinner for 10 will cost $58.81, a 1.36-percent drop from last year.
The center of the Thanksgiving meal, the turkey, is the biggest contributor to the change, as it rang in 21-cents less per pound than a year ago. This is largely due to the decline in the spread of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in the past year.
The Marketbasket survey looks at the price of popular food items used to prepare a Thanksgiving meal sufficient to serve 10 people. This survey allows for Wisconsin food prices to be compared with food prices from across the country.
Comparatively, the Bureau’s survey of the same items showed a 4.5-percent decrease from 2022 with prices nationally at $61.17.
