Construction Of High End Condominiums In Beaver Dam Could Be Delayed

(Beaver Dam) The construction of high-end condominiums on the site of the former Lakeview Hospital in Beaver Dam could be delayed by up to one year following common council action Monday night. The old La Crosse Street structure and two adjacent properties – the former Executive Apartments and a nearby house – are being developed into the lakefront condos. Beaver Dam Area Development Corporation Vice President Trent Campbell told the council that the project was already about four months behind schedule before the current pandemic escalated uncertainty in the construction industry. The project is being bolstered with dollars from a Tax Increment Finance District and city officials tied the funding to specific benchmarks, which the council has agreed to extend. Campbell says instead of the project being fully realized by January 1 of 2022, completion is now expected by January 1 of 2023. He anticipates that shovels will be in the ground this fall or no later than next spring. The new condo development from JCW Development is expected to eventually add $4-million dollars to the tax rolls.
