(Juneau) A fungus-like disease that targets plants in the tomato family has been confirmed in Dodge County. UW Extension’s Matt Hanson says “late blight” has a quick onset and covers plant leaves with a blackish, brownish oily appearance on the top and a cottony mildew on the bottom. The stalks may also become shrunken and brown and the fruit develops dark legions. The disease had already been confirmed in several other counties, including Columbia and Jefferson. Information on how to confirm “late blight” in your home garden is on the Extension’s website; a link can be found on our website wbevradio.com – wxroradio.com.
