A 30-year-old Columbus man is in jail on three charges after running from officers that were trying to talk to him early yesterday morning. Columbus Police say they observed Jaiss Grossman acting in a suspicious manner in the Ludington Street area. When an officer attempted to speak with him Grossman went down the grassy bank of the Crawfish River. As officers attempted to catch up to him, he jumped into the water. After an hour of being in the water Grossman finally came out and was taken into custody. Following his arrest and while he was being taken to jail, authorities say Grossman’s language was abusive and profane while making threats to police. When asked why he went into the river, Grossman state, “This is Columbus, I like to swim.”
