Columbus Man Found Guilty On Misdemeanor Prostitution Charge

(Clyman) A Columbus man who was arrested in September at the Hardware Store in Clyman on prostitution charges was found guilty Tuesday. Joseph Brown entered a no contest plea to a misdemeanor charge of Prostitution – Sexual Gratification. Shirley Quinn of Milwaukee was found guilty on similar charges in November for her role and was ordered to pay a $250 fine along with court costs. Sheriff Dale Schmidt was in full uniform while conducting a routine bar check at the establishment on Main Street when he caught Quinn in the act with Brown. The 26-year-old Quinn was quoted as having a deer-in-headlights-look when Schmidt confronted the both of them in a private room. They denied any sexual act was going on between them. When interviewed individually, Quinn told Schmidt that she was not making any money at the strip club and when Brown had asked her to be “spontaneous” and “do a little extra” for $100 dollars she agreed. Brown continued to deny the accusations but later admitted to giving Quinn money and said he was doing it to help her out. The 65-year-old Brown was ordered to pay over $1,500 in fines and court costs.
