Columbus Man Charged With Fleeing Dodge County Deputies

(Chester) A Columbus man has been charged with running from Dodge County sheriff’s deputies. Jason McDonald is facing two felony counts of Fleeing.

A deputy was asked by the Columbus Police Department to help locate a vehicle reportedly driven by McDonald last month. According to the criminal complaint, law enforcement spotted the vehicle on Highway 151 north of County Road B and a chase ensued. The suspect vehicle allegedly reached speeds of 100 miles-per-hour before the pursuit was terminated.

Fond du Lac County sheriff’s deputies reportedly spotted the same car later that night and another chase began. The complaint said the deputy had to increase their speed to 120-miles-per-hour in order to keep up. The pursuit also ended after the suspect vehicle was allegedly observed making abrupt and unsafe lane changes, traveling into the medium, and conducting an illegal U-turn.

If convicted, the 35-year-old faces up to seven years in prison. An initial appearance is scheduled for May 23rd.
