12/9/17 – Columbus has hired a new economic development director. Matt Schreiber will fill the position that was re-tooled when both the previous director and city clerk stepped down. City Administrator Patrick Vander Sanden says Ann Donoghue, who had been serving as clerk since 1988, was tasked with more city planning and zoning duties over the years. With her departure, and the vacant economic development director position, Vander Sanden says the city needed to reorganize job responsibilities. He says the post Schreiber will be filling is now called the Director of Planning and Development. Vander Sanden says of the eight applicants Schreiber provided the most experience with a Master’s Degree in Planning. His first day will be on Monday.
