Columbus Extends Deadline For Aldermanic Search

(Columbus) The search for a District 1 alderman in Columbus has a new deadline. The Common Council decided this week to extend their original deadline of May 17 to noon on May 31. The council is looking to fill a District 1 seat left vacant after a recent resignation.  Council President Andrew Traxler says the city has only received one letter as of Tuesday’s meeting but there is still time to consider serving the community on the council.

Columbus residents who reside within the cities first district can submit a letter of interest to the city clerk’s office in order to be considered for the aldermanic position.  Letters will be reviewed by the Common Council prior to the Committee of the Whole meeting on June 4.  Potential candidates are expected to be on hand at the June 4 meeting to speak or answer questions from the council.  The newly appointed alderman would serve out the remainder of the vacated term ending April of 2020.
