Columbus Council Gets First Look At Proposed 2024 Budget

(Columbus) The Columbus City Council got a first look at the preliminary budget for 2024 this week. The proposed document includes estimated expenditures of $4.69-million-dollars, [a] $198,259 increase from 2023.

The projected tax levy is $3.76-million-dollars, an increase of $115,000 from the previous year. The mill rate would be $7.90 per $1,000 dollars assessed value. The are two more important dates coming up in the budget process.

On October 17th, the council will incorporate any changes they feel necessary into the document and approve for publishing. A public hearing will be held on November 7th in advance of the council taking up a final vote on the 2024 budget.
