Columbia County Shooting Range Reopens Following Improvements

(Mud Lake) The Columbia County Shooting Range on King Road has reopened after completion of range improvements and establishment of user regulations. The announcement was made in partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Columbia County Shooting Alliance.

The range improvements include backstop repairs, new target stands and holders as well as 100-yard shooting shed repairs and a new storage building on site. The 25-foot handgun range will remain closed until a bullet catcher is in place, with work slated to begin next spring. As a result, no handgun or pistol will be allowed for shooting at the rifle shotgun ranges this fall.

Range officials say all visitors should bring their own PPE such as face masks, gloves and sanitizer. They say to prevent gatherings, people waiting to utilize the range due to space availability will be encouraged to wait in their vehicles. The range will be open Thursdays through Tuesdays from 10am to 6pm. The facility will close every Wednesday for maintenance and law enforcement training.
