Columbia County Sets Record Low Unemployment

6/23/17 – Columbia County hit an all-time low unemployment rate in May logging a 2.4-percent, down a full percentage point from last May. Columbia County was one of five counties that experienced a record-setting month. Washington County also reported a 2.4-percent. Dodge County was not far behind reporting a 2.5-percent jobless rate last month, also down a full percentage point from May of 2016. Fond du Lac County recorded a 2.3-percent, down just over a full-percent from year-to-year. Green Lake County was down nearly a point and a half from last year with a 3.1-percent. Dane and Lafayette counties had the lowest rate in the state at 2.2-percent. Iron County dropped 2.3-percent to 5.3-percent, the highest rate in the state. The preliminary rates in all 72 counties dropped when compared to May of last year. Sixty-eight (68) counties either declined or remained the same last month when compared to April.
