Columbia County Jury Finds Man Guilty Of Murdering His Wife In 1988

(Poynette) A jury in Columbia County Friday found a man guilty of killing his wife in 1988. Mark Bringe is guilty of First-Degree Murder in the death of Loreli Bringe, who was found dead of a gunshot wound in a wooded area near her Poynette home in the Town of Arlington. The investigation continued for several years but eventually went cold in the early 1990’s. The sheriff’s office reopened the case in 2014 as a homicide investigation, exploring the original case files and utilizing new and updated investigative techniques. At the time, Mark Bringe told authorities his wife had committed suicide. The 73-year-old was arrested in Arizona four years ago. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul says there is finally accountability for this tragic homicide. Kaul thanked the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the team at the state justice department that worked on this case for their tireless efforts to secure justice. A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled. Bringe faces life in prison.
