(Columbia County) Authorities in Columbia County say they continue to see drastic increases in impaired driving throughout the county. Sheriff Roger Brandner says many of these cases are a result of reckless and hazardous driving complaints. He says in the past year, their deputies have made 435 arrests for impaired driving including the use of illicit drugs, alcohol or overuse of prescription drugs. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office have increased their patrols because of the surge in driving complaints. Brandner says they ask that people continue to use the Bar Buddies or SafeRide programs that are offered to keep drunk drivers off the roads. He says they thank the good citizens who call law enforcement to report dangerous drivers.
