7/27/17 – The Clean Sweep program being held in Dodge County again next month, for the first time since 2014. The program allows Dodge County residents to safely and legally dispose of unwanted pesticides, household products and chemicals. Jeff Hoffman with Dodge County UW Extension says the Clean Sweep will be offered on Friday, August 25 at the Dodge County Highway Shop in Neosho from 9am until 1pm. On Saturday, August 26 Clean Sweep will be at the Dodge County Highway Shop on County Road A in the Town of Beaver Dam from 8am until noon. Farm and household hazardous materials will be collected at both locations and there is a $10 fee per vehicle. Both sites will also be a drop off for hazardous materials from small businesses, which requires pre-registration through the Dodge County UW Extension Office by August 15. Items generally accepted as part of the Clean Sweep program include pesticides, household cleaners and agricultural materials, along with light bulbs, mercury thermometers and oil and metal-based paints. Items that will NOT be accepted include explosives, human medical and biological wastes, radioactive materials, compressed gas cylinders, used motor oils, fertilizer, tires, asbestos and anti-freeze.
