City Officials Amend Resolution For Beaver Dam Business Applying For State Grant

(Beaver Dam) City officials in Beaver Dam Monday night approved an amendment to a resolution for a new downtown business to apply for a state grant. The common council in March approved an application for an unnamed business to receive funds through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation for a Community Development Investment grant. Mayor Becky Glewen told the council last night that the city has to identity the business in the resolution. The council amended the previous resolution to add the name of the business, Great Harvest Bakery owned by Jim and Ruth Metz, which will operate at 128 Front Street. According to the state, the CDI grant program offers support to urban, small city and rural community redevelopment efforts by providing financial incentives for shovel-ready projects with emphasis on, but not limited to, downtown community-driven efforts. Funded activities should lead to measurable benefits in job opportunities, property values and/or leveraged investment by local and private partners with a minimum of $250-thousand dollars investmentNo word yet on the status of the grant
