(Mayville) The city of Mayville will begin flushing fire hydrants tomorrow (Monday) as part of their annual water maintenance program. During the flushing process, city residents may notice that service pressure is affected along with a slight discoloration. Utilities officials say there is no cause for alarm as the discoloration is caused by sediment or rust being flushed from the water mains and will clear up after running water for a short time. The flushing is performed to ensure hydrants are exercised and operational and also to clean the piping system of any naturally settling rust and sediment. Mayville will continue flushing hydrants between the hours of 6am and 3pm through June 4th.
